About Me

I am Yufeng Xia(夏驭风)— a first-year MSc by Research student at the Institute for Computing Systems Architecture (ICSA) at the University of Edinburgh, supervised by Prof. Mahesh K. Marina. I am also a member of the Networked Systems (NetSys) Group.
My research lies at the intersection of Networking and ML Systems, with a focus on building scalable and efficient systems for distributed machine learning at the edge.
I am particularly interested in reimagining communication and Radio Access Network (RAN) infrastructure as a unified platform for ML workloads, enabling a symbiotic relationship between network systems and AI.
Recently, my work has focused on AI-native RAN (AI-RAN) and Digital Twin systems, where real-time network environments are tightly coupled with data-driven models to enable adaptive, resource-efficient, and intelligent system behavior at scale.
Previously, I undertook summer research with Antonio Barbalace (Systems-Nuts research group), focusing on compiler optimization. I also obtained my B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Edinburgh with First Class Honours.
I am always open to academic discussions and potential collaborations. Please feel free to reach out to me at yufeng.xia [at] ed.ac.uk.
